NORTH INDIA'S FIRST FULLY ACTIVE ROBOT FOR JOINT REPLACEMENT

Sarvodaya ushers in a Transformation in North India with the First Fully Active Joint Replacement Robot. The CUVIS Fully Active Robotic Joint Replacement system is a first-of-its-kind robot, which conducts the cutting and milling too under the supervision of an experienced surgeon. This technology immeasurably enhances the replacement procedure by providing maximum accuracy and the option of mid-course correction due to constant feedback, to provide the best possible results in Joint Replacements.

The Joint Replacements

ANBC In this surgical procedure, a damaged joint is replaced either totally or partially by an artificial implant, which is designed to replicate the movement of a normal & healthy joint. This is often recommended by orthopaedicians, as a permanent way to eliminate joint pain! Yet people may face multiple obstacles before they make the final decision to undergo this procedure. Most of the routine joint replacements are done using alignment jigs & cutting blocks. These are relatively simple devices and the patient has to rely on the surgeon's ability to feel and perform the right alignment and balance of the joint. But this traditional method has limitations on its own, the success of such operations is not always 100%. So, here comes the advanced version, which is Fast track Computer Navigated Joint Replacement. Fast track has become a well-known concept in improved patient satisfaction and post-operative results. Fast Track Technology leads to higher patient satisfaction, lower post-operative complications, reduces the length of stay in the hospital, improves health-related quality of life & functionality, reduces morbidity and post-operative disability with the earlier achievement of functional milestones. Thereby with the right doctors & facilities, patients can go for this treatment.

  • Computer Navigation: Sarvodaya Hospital is equipped with the latest pin less navigation machine to bring accuracy in implant knee alignment, leading to much better post-operative outcomes, faster recovery & less pain. Longevity of the implant ensured because of using computer navigation technique.
  • Kinematic Alignment: With new techniques of kinematic alignment, bone cuts are minimized, and the ligament is preserved.
  • Muscle Sparing: In this technique muscles in front of the knee are not cut & knee is exposed keeping muscle fully intact by taking it to one side. It is technically demanding but the results of TKR are encouraging. The requirement for physiotherapy is minimized with this procedure and muscle functions are restored early.
  • No Tourniquet: Very few surgeons in the world are trained to perform Total Knee Replacement surgery without tourniquet.

The results: Intra-operative and post-operative complications are minimized and very safe. There is no muscle wasting so there is less requirement of post-operative physical therapy assistance.

  • Knee Implant: We are using all types of Knee Implant including:
  • Partial Knee, Pivot Knee, and High flex knee implant: It can help the patient undergoing TKR in sitting crossed-legged and squat. We are using sent percent Cruciate Retaining (CR) implant for Total Knee Replacement surgery where result is excellent and none loss is minimum.
  • Ligament Sparing TKR (CR): We use ligament sparing techniques to ensure optimal functioning of knee after TKR. The Cruciate-Retaining (CR) prosthesis or implant offers better functioning of the knee.
  • Staple less or Suture less Joint Replacement Surgery: Very few centres in the world are using this technique where patients benefits are maximum without added cost. Patients recovery is faster, with less hospital stay and need to re-visit the hospital further which reduces the cost and stress of the patient.
  • Minimal Pain Following TKR: To minimise pain following surgery, we give controlled analgesia (PCA) to the patients using an Epidural pump. Skin patches and physiotherapy are used to minimise the requirement of drugs. This way, the pain reduces drastically.
  • Patients are made to walk in same day of surgery with support. Mostly patients are independent from third day post-operation. Recovery is faster because of not using tourniquet during surgery and computer navigation technique.
  • Pain Management during surgery and post-operative: We are using the regional anesthesia with additional regional nerve block for same. Teams of experienced anesthesiologists are there to design specialized technique and drug combination for same.

Total Hip Replacement

A total hip replacement is a surgical procedure whereby the diseased cartilage and bone of the hip joint is surgically replaced with artificial implants. The normal hip joint is a ball and socket joint. The socket is a "cup-shaped" component of the pelvis called the acetabulum. The ball is the head of the thighbone (femur). Total hip joint replacement involves surgical removal of the diseased ball and socket and replacing them with a metal (or ceramic) ball and stem inserted into the femur bone and an artificial plyethylene (or ceramic) cup socket. The metallic artificial ball and stem are referred to as the "femoral prosthesis" and the plastic cup socket is the "acetabular prosthesis." Upon inserting the prosthesis into the central core of the femur, it is fixed with a bony cement called methyl methacrylate. Alternatively, a "cementless" prosthesis is used that has microscopic pores which allow bony ingrowth from the normal femur into the prosthesis stem. This "cementless" hip last for a longer duration and is considered especially for younger patients. Total hip replacement is also referred to as total hip arthroplasty.

Treatment of complex trauma & Industrial injuries

The accident and trauma cases involving serious injuries are treated here with our world-class medical facilities and quick, responsive team. We deliver comprehensive care for patients who suffer from any Trauma or Industrial injury through our multi-speciality approach including the expert opinion and treatment by Neurosurgeons, Cardiac Surgeons, Plastic Surgeons, General Surgeons & our very own Orthopaedician team.

The Computer Navigation: This high-end system is one of the most powerful tools used in the orthopaedics to help surgeons to place surgical tools correctly. The machine allows them to create an accurate virtual image of the patient’s joint, analysis and processing of the 3D model created, surgical simulation, pre-operative planning and lastly surgical navigation. This enables them to get have a clear image of what needs to be done, before cutting the bone open.

Digital X-Ray: Offers enhanced X-ray images with higher quality that helps in providing better care and saves a lot of time in comparison to the conventional X-ray imaging system.

Scanning systems: We have the latest technology with enhanced CT Scan and MRI facilities for the patients.

C-Arm: Enhanced with Advanced Radiographic capabilities, the C-arm allows fluoroscopic intraoperative imaging C Live images of bone surgery enables a smoother operation.

The OPD: Our out-patient department is designed to provide maximum comfort to the visiting patients. We also have a separate procedure room to support OPD treatments.

OT facilities: Our operation theatres are well equipped with world-class technology with HEPA filters & Laminar Flow installed to maintain higher hygiene standards.

Post-operative area: We have a strategically designed post-operative care unit supported by a well-equipped SICU and patient ward area.

Physiotherapy service: We have a team of trained physiotherapists who offer the best physiotherapy services to our patients allowing them to rejoin their daily activities & routine, while learning how to regain function of their joints with ease.

Technical excellence: We have a Digital X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT scan, MRI and Bone Mineral Density Test facility. Our 3D Navigation,  Advanced Drill, C-Arm are examples of our continuous thrive to have offer the best orthopaedic care.
